there are some girls that are made of sugar and spice, and then there are girls that just plain like to party. i'll give you one guess as to which side of the divide uffie falls on.
known to her parentals as anna catherine hartley, uffie, the american born rapper, has been heating up the scene for the past five years. she's known for incorporating synthpop, electronica, hip hop and dance into her music and collaborating with her label-mates dj feadz and mr. oizo, but more importantly, she's known for being a little bit x-rated and buck wild (her words, not mine).
while she has mostly singles and collaborations out, legitimatized by the occassional ep, her debut album has long been awaited since mid-'07. i think some partying had something to do with it, but the wild child's album was incessantly pushed back due to hectic traveling schedules and the birth of her first child. but, the wait is finally over, and her first album, sex dreams and denim jeans, is due out in early 2010. and, when that happens, be sure to stay-tuned for an uffie featuring pharrell williams exclusive, which is pretty much guaranteed to be pure genius. but, in the mean time, check out pop the glock and get a sneak peek of what's to come with mc's can kiss.
having paid her dues to the underground scene, and with a more mature and different sound that still promises to exude sex kitten/wild child appeal all atop futuristic, electronic and hip hop beats, i'm thinking it's safe to say that she will be one of next year's first break out artists.

however, pretty-boy adrian grenier and producer peter glatzer have teamed up to launch SHFT, website that caters to the technorati who are also concerned about the globe. in their words, they describe the new site as "curating the culture of today's environment," or showcasing the best in eco-friendly innovation.
the site goes into beta launch today, featuring videos, a blog and a shop with tech-friendly, eco-savvy products ranging from organic boy shorts to bangles made from skateboard decks, from organic boxers to a super sleek folding bike for the green commuter. the launch party will also be held tonight at the wired store in new york starting at 6:30 p.m. please rsvp by emailing rsvp@sunshinesachs.com.

if you're wondering why girls are suggesting that you both grab lunch sometime, as opposed to suggesting you grab a cab back to her place, it probably has a lot to do with the drink in your hand. it's time to at least feign some fucking manhood and wean yourself off the lame libation choices. put some hair on your chest, and some new numbers in your blackberry, with a rusty nail.
to concoct, simply add lots of ice and two shots of scotch (johnny walkers black or dewar's 12 is suggested) to a double old fashioned glass. then, either float half a shot of drambuie on top, or stir, preferably with a rusty nail for some serious badassness.

i'm sure the cat lady of an office assistant at your current place of work has been playing christmas music since october seventeenth because it's the only time of the year she has somewhat of a life, so i know i don't need to remind you that the holidays are coming up.

as in most cases, it is often a truly unique and beautiful phenomenon when old intertwines seamlessly with new.
whist, at the viceroy in santa monica, is no exception to the rule. designed by the esteemed kelly wearstler the interior features a breathtaking blend of asian, classical and postmodern influences. the cuisine is no different. the menu features an array of traditional dishes with modern twists, such as a beet salad accompanied by hazelnuts, baby lettuce and truffle panna cotta and a new york strip with asparagus and a parmesan-truffle twice baked potato.
